Melissa Hall has dedicated the past 15 years of her career in brand strategy development to help people and businesses tell their story. She has worked with an array of fashion, wellness and educational institutions both small and large adapt to the ever-changing consumer landscape. With a creative eye and knowledge of trends paired with thoughtful listening, she empowers her clients to think differently.
She is founder and editor of The Emerging Designer, the leading New York-based fashion industry network that bridges the gap between business and creativity for designers and creators. Through her deep ties with the New York fashion industry, she has built a community of hundreds of fashion brands, organizations, manufactures and retailers, and has helped her corporate clients navigate the maze of the industry through various events and partnerships.
Melissa is committed to education: She is an instructor at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) working with entrepreneurs, and has served as a consultant for Design Entrepreneurs NYC, a selective business and strategy development program for top NYC emerging fashion companies developed by FIT and the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). She has also served as President of the Alumni Advisory Board at New York Fashion Fellows. Melissa is currently a national mentor for the Saint Louis Fashion Incubator.
Melissa has interviewed some of the top names in fashion including Hilldun CEO, Gary Wassner, Rebecca Minkoff CEO Uri Minkoff, and designer Rosie Assoulin and held speaking engagements at a variety of organizations including: University of Oxford, NYU, Parsons, Fashion Institute of Technology, Washington University, Savannah College of Art and Design, University of Illinois, The Fashion Law Institute, Texworld, Midwest Fashion Conference, Long Island University, Pace University, Moore College, DG Expo, 92Y, Brooklyn Public Library, Philadelphia Fashion Incubator at Macy’s, Women’s Empower Expo, Saint Louis Fashion Fund, SUNY FastTrac and American Association of Advertising Agencies.
Melissa began her career in advertising in Chicago working on Kraft, Kellogg’s, KFC and Coca-Cola while working at FCB and Leo Burnett. She has a Bachelors of Science in Advertising from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a degree in Fashion Design from Parsons the New School for Design. When she's not working, you will find her traveling, eating well and discovering, fueling her best work and passion for life.
